Gikuyu is a language by The Agikuyu (Kikuyu) from central Kenya, the largest ethnic group in Kenya, making up a significant portion of the population. It is one of the many languages within the Niger-Congo language family and belongs to the Bantu.

Kikuyu were involoved in the armed struggle for freedom from the British, where the Mau Mau rebellion fighters mostly hailed from the kikuyu community, even the first president of Kenya “Mzee Jomo Kenyatta” was a Kikuyu.

Kikuyu`s celebrate ceremonial occasions – such as weddings, initiations, and the birth of new member into the family – by singing and dancing!
